We are going to make a big bid for Gillespie. I have seen him play before and he is a very good player. Now will this maybe shut all the critics up?

No I am not happy yet, as we haven't made a bid yet and we haven't signed him. I think somebody is getting excited too early here.

If we do manage to sign him, then it would be a decent signing. I am not getting too excited yet though, as Carlisle will offer more wages if they have bidded for him.

Trust me Kez, Gillespie would choose Carlisle over us everytime. I have even heard that some blue square teams have a higher budget than us, which is hard to believe I know. I just hope to god now we have got rid of Paterson that we do make a bid for him. The club should not be afraid to bid for him. I also hope that Carlisle don't come in with another offer that's bigger than ours.

I have seen today's article of "United May Have To Break Record". What are the odds that we won't even make a bid for Gillespie? Is this a stunt/spin to try and get people to buy season tickets? I am not getting another season ticket, until the board show some ambition. If they go in and bid for Gillespie that would be a good start. The board must hurry up about doing it though, as I am sure a few other clubs are looking at him. He would be a fantastic player for us if he shows the same kind of potential of when he played at Liverpool.

If we do get Gillespie, we must then get some more full backs and maybe another midfielder. Then if Butler goes I would like us to go in for another centre back. We can't be doing with "Mr Full Of Mistakes" Crosby at centre back again. Then if Murphy leaves us, we must go in for another keeper. I am all for giving Lillis a chance, but I am not sure if he's ready for first team action yet.

Hopefully the club have listened to the fans and that they do go and bid for Gillespie. Hopefully they have seen us all unhappy with the tracking of Ameobi. That seems to have gone quiet thankfully. If we don't manage to get Gillespie it's not the end of the world. I wudn't mind Micheal Boulding or Jamie Ward from Chesterfield here. They both can score goals so I am not fussed out of these 3 which one we get. We just need a good replacement for Paterson. We surely have a better transfer budget now than what we did have last month. Hopefully by now the club have set themselves a list of players of who they want, so they can go and bid for those players.

How about the management change their attitude towards the club and actually belive we have a right to be at this level. If we don't improve the playing squad, which brings extra wages and transfer funds, we will always we a small club!

What really annoys me is people who are happy to put up with it. 300k-500k is nothing for a player in todays transfer market. We are no longer in the bottom 2 of league 2!

This is one of the main reasons why we went down! Adkins had no faith in the players. He was constantly saying we were overacheiving when we were in the playoffs at the start of the season, and this can't have helped the players confidence. I mean how would you like to be told your good results were down to fluke! Did Garry Johnson say his players were overachieving when they got to the play off final??? And remember this was a side we beat by 6 points the previous season.

Yes Scunthorpe was a football backwater 3 years ago but the progress we have made through the leagues have given us a chance to push on. Forward thinkers are required on the board much in the same way Adam Pearson turned Hull round before going to Derby. This good work was backed up by Paul Duffen and they are miles ahead of us in regaurds marketing etc.

I just wish people would at least try to move the club forward and not put up with the constant spin from the board.

Well said Kez. Something does need to change around here and quick. As you say Adkins had no belief last season that we could stop up. Every game I am convinced that Adkins said this at half time or along these lines. "Hey wow who would have thought it? We are leading against a big Championship club. It just shows how far we have come as a club to be leading a game in The Championship. There's no pressure on us we are not expected to even win a game. It does not matter if you lose today guys because it is expected. Go out there in the 2nd half sit back and soak up the pressure. We want the other team to feel the pressure by attacking us. We are little Scunthorpe in a big league afterall".

boooooooooooooooooooo rubbish Adkins and Wharton. If it were any other club Adkins would have been sacked by now for setting a negative impact to each match. If I hear that "we are on a journey of discovery" from Adkins this season I will protest for his sacking. Adkins and the board need to wake up this season as we are one of the teams that everybody will want to beat. We have a bit of pressure this season to do well as we all want a return to The Championship. Well sorry all us fans do, but do the board want an instant return? I mean one transfer so far this summer and it was a free one AS USUAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. We need to be spending money on young players and we need to do it fast.

Lets hope that Murphy does not leave. I am not convinced that we are going to be able to keep hold off him. I hope I am wrong.
