"A teenage midfielder from Chelsea, expected to be Michael Woods, is due to join United in August after the youth squad from Stamford Bridge have returned to this country from a tournament in Malaysia".

Great loan signing if Adkins manages to pull it off. I watched the Youth Cup Final on sky sports and he looked a real handful. I know Chelsea lost that match but Woods was the best player on the night in my opinion.

Indeed sounds great. If he's anywhere near as good as Cork we will have done well. What type of midfielder is he NAB? Never seen him play myself.

He played in attacking centre midfield in the Youth Cup Final. He likes to get forward which is a good thing. I think he is just as good as Cork.

I also watched that match as well. Woods played very well against Man City Youth in the cup. He has a lot of energy and pace. If Adkins manages to sign him for a whole season I will be delighted.

We don't need an attacking midfielder Thompson, McCann and Hurst will do a job at this level. As for woods being better than Cork one is a Defencive midfielder and the other is attacking. we need a holding midfielder to stand any chance of doing well next season.

You could add Sparrow as an attacking midfielder. I still think Woods would be a decent signing for us as in my opinion he has a lot potential. I reckon he's on a par with Cork in terms of quality.

morris and hayes (if we had another forward) can also play there (and I hope Morris does) - but we definitely lack defensive midfield options, however, remembering that we just got relegated are any of them up to playing in the championship? all are good enough for this level but if we are looking for new players then they should be possibilities for a step up
